A Subject I have enjoyed studying this semester

Hi! In this ocassion I will write about a Subject I have enjoyed studying this semester,
describing what I do in classes, mentioning the main contents I have seen and finally explain why I like the subject.

It is difficult to choose a Subject I have enjoyed studying because all have something good and something bad. but I chose the one that suits me.

Culturas Andinas is the Subject I have enjoyed studying this semester.

In this class, the teacher passed the content and then being discussed and we -the students- give their view. Also in some class we present about some topic and texts related to the unity we are going and then being discussed too.

The main contents we have seen are Andean landscape and territory, and Andean symbolic structure and imagined community, it is quite complex. Also a fieldwork in the north of Chile, this year was in the village San Andres de Pica.

I like this Subject because I interest in the Andean cultures, both their environment and their social structure and the readings are very interesting. Also a fieldwork was a great experience.
See you next week. Bye.

An Expert on my field

Hi! In this publication I will write about an expert on my field, the anthropology.

Dame Mary Douglas born on the 25th of March of 1921 and died on the 16th of May of 2007. She was a British anthropologist, known for her writings on human culture and symbolism, whose area of speciality was social anthropologist. Douglas was considered a follower of Emile Durkheim and a proponent of structuralist analysis, with a strong interest in comparative religion.

Although she is a woman, she doesn´t make a feminist theory in anthropology. Mary Douglas proposes cultural perspective for the analysis of everyday life.

The most outstanding contribution of Douglas is her interpretation of the book of Leviticus and also she wrote a book called Purity and Danger, published in 1966, in wich she makes an analysis of the concepts of ritual purity and impurity in different societies and times, is considered a key text in social anthropology.

I like Mery Douglas because is a woman anthropologist and  her books are easy to understand and to remember and also amusing.

I see you next week.
Bye.

My favorite band

Hi! Today I will to write about my favorite band.

It´s one of my favorite bands, The Beatles. They were an English band formed by four man, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Star, they have twenty-one recorded studio albums. They became popular in the 60’s but they are still famous at the present, we are legendary. Now two of them are dead – John Lennon and George Harrison- and two are alive – Paul McCartney and Ringo Star- they continue having concerts. This band play rock music and influenced many other bands in word.

I like this band because my sister listened to them and I listened with her when I was a children and I never stopped listening them. Also they are really awesome.

It´s difficult to choose just one song because I like plenty of them, but I think that one of my favorite songs is the strawberry fields forever - like the name of my blog- because it´s really special and good.

I see you next week.

Bye.
